HEAD OF ASEAN STUDIES CENTER

Ignatius Agung Satyawan is the Head of the ASEAN Studies Center, Institute of Research and Community Services, Universitas Sebelas Maret. He is  a lecturer in Communication Studies and International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. He completed his bachelor degree of International Relations at Universitas Gadjah Mada, bachelor degree of Economic Management and Communication Studies at Open University of Indonesia, Master of Political Science at Universitas Indonesia and his Ph.D of International Studies at Universiti Utara Malaysia. He obtained additional non-degree of education including Philosophy and Theology Studies through the extension course at the Driyarkara School of Philosophy Driyarkarya Jakarta; Electoral System Studies in Manila, Philippines sponsored by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung; Gender and Tourism at The Golda Meir Mount Caramel International Training Center Haifa sponsored by UNESCO; Gender Studies, Sexuality and Reproductive Health at Asian Institute of Technology Thailand sponsored by the Asian Development Bank. In addition, he is often invited as a speaker in national and international forums. Other experiences include being a competition grant reviewer at the Council of Higher Education in 2006-2007, Head of Gender Research and Development Center Universitas Sebelas Maret 2005-2007 and Visiting Scholar in International Politics for one year at the School of International Studies - Peking University Beijing 2004-2005 on the sponsorship of UNESCO and the Government of the People's Republic of China. His research interests are in the Political Economy of Southeast Asia, Human Rights Studies, Tourism and Development Studies. Awards that have been obtained include Bronze, Silver and Gold Medal of Karya Satya respectively from President of the Republic of Indonesia.
